- Bike through the challenging terrains and high altitudes on the narrow mountain roads.
- Explore the hidden gems of Ladakh.
- Feel the divinity and serenity of the colour-changing Pangong Lake.
- Experience mixed feelings of trepidation and excitement at every turn on the roads in this region.
- Wake up to many calming sunrises amid the mountains.
- Commence your trip from Leh, the starting point of this tour package.
- Settle in at the hotel for some rest before you go exploring the local markets and must-visit tourist sites. Allow your body to acclimate and adjust to Leh’s cold weather.
- A visit to Leh Market is recommended for a relaxed and slow-moving evening of fun, cultural insight, and shopping.
- Before returning to your cosy accommodation, enjoy a delicious dinner and prepare yourself for the adventure that awaits.
- Day 2 marks the beginning of your adventure-filled bike expedition.
- After waking up to a pleasant morning, get ready to explore the scenic views riding your bike from Leh to Lamayuru and experience an adrenaline rush of biking through uneven terrains.
- During the ride, you will witness the majestic Magnetic Hills, the Zanskar-Indus River confluence, and the pious Gurudwara Pathhar Sahib.
- Once you reach Lamayuru, you will find yourself wonder-struck by the monastery famous for its ‘lunar’ landscape. Filled with spectacular views and situated at 3,510 metres, it is also called ‘Moonland’ because of its terrain resembling the moon’s surface.
- After the long day, rest for the night at a comfortable homestay to prepare for the next day’s adventure.
- An exhilarating first Zanskar road trip day it was, wasn’t it? After reaching Lamayuru and resting for the night here, the coming morning brings a demanding long-distance bike ride to Padum via Wanla, Sirsir La, Shingle La, and Murgum La.
- This route has undulating landscapes and takes you through small hamlets located along the stretch to cater to passing tourists.
- After reaching Shingle La, it is advisable to control your bike’s speed as we begin biking downhill from a height of 5056 metres.
- On your way, you will cross Hanuma La Pass and Parfi La Pass and see the beautiful Lingshed Monastery, a bewitching structure built in an otherwise desolate stretch of land.
- After reaching Padum and getting a good night’s sleep at the designated homestay, we go on an exploration hike to Sani Lake and a hidden monastery in the region.
- Day 4 brings you a day of traversing through the panoramic landscape of the hills in Ladakh before you reach Purne, a small, quaint village located at a height of 3950 metres in Zanskar Valley.
- This is an exciting day for another reason—we go up the hills to explore the world-famous Phuktal Monastery.
- Upon reaching Purne, enjoy the soft, deep sand, rubble, and stones of Tsarap River while sipping hot tea on the banks. Later, retire to your lodging for the night.
- After the visit to Phuktal Monastery in Purne on your Leh Zanskar trip, we will continue our biking journey to Jispa via Shinku La.
- Driving up the Shinku La stretch to Jispa is challenging as the tarmac road changes to an uneven stretch pretty soon. It will be an extreme experience as you will find yourself riding over rugged rocks and loose gravel. This stretch introduces you to the roughest part of the region, where the sun is harsh, and the air is dry. The mountains are primarily barren; all you can see is rust-coloured lichen and reddish-brown grass without a hint of greenery.
- Nevertheless, the day ends with us reaching Jispa, a small village with only 78 households, where you can find solace amid mountains at the height of 3,200 metres.
- After spending the day at Jispa, relish a power breakfast and explore the tiny town that houses a helipad, a post office, and a monastery.
- After this, we begin moving toward Tsokar via Sarchu, Naki La, Lachulung La, and Baralacha La. In the first high-altitude segment of this day, you will reach the town of Sarchu, an alluring tourist destination located at 4,290 metres. Witness the stunning views of snow-covered mountains and Suraj Tal.
- Moving to Baralacha La, north of Sarchu, experience a peaceful ride through the plateau with many hairpin bends.
- After this stretch, we will reach the alluring Tsokar Lake. Known as ‘White Lake’ because of its white salt deposits, it supports the Changpa Nomads’ salt industry and facilitates trade with merchants from the rest of Ladakh.
- On Day 7 of this Zanskar trip, we cover the remaining distance from Tsokar to Hanle, an eccentric route taking the tour toward a remarkable climax.
- Begin this ride after a fulfilling breakfast on the banks of Tsokar and ride along Tsokar Lake to Hanle, a village with historical remains and the highest astronomical observatory in the world. You will come across the multi-colored Kar Lake and Changthang Plateau.
- Upon reaching Hanle, settle in for a comfortable stay at the designated lodging after a demanding yet fulfilling day of bike riding through the immaculate mountains of Ladakh.
- After exploring the observatory at Hanle, we will take a little detour to Umling La Pass as a closing biking expedition on your Zanskar trip, which we believe will have been nothing but extraordinary.
- Gear up to experience this pass as you embark on the route to Umling La Pass, located at 5,798 metres.
- You will cross the Chisum Bridge along Kingdul River while ascending the mountain via Chismule-Demchok Road in a deep valley.
- We have added this distinctive detour to ensure you have an opportunity to cross one of the highest motorable passes in the world, making this package one of the best Zanskar valley tour packages you could have.
- Hanle is the last pitstop on this Zanskar road trip. After a cosy night at a modest homestay, begin your journey back to the base, Leh.
- As you go back to Leh, covering more than 250 km, you will see stunning views and notice the grandeur of Ladakh’s eternal glory.
- After riding through Changthang Plateau, come down to Loma and sit and relax near the banks of the charming Indus River.
- After hours of riding down dusty roads, we will reach Leh and stay there for the night.
- The tenth day marks the end of your remarkable Leh-Zanskar-Leh trip.
- The fascinating mountains of this region will be imprinted in your heart for years to come.
- Bid adieu to the beautiful town of Leh with a suitcase full of memories and personal accomplishments as a biker and head home.
