- The starting point for this trek is Shimla. You can reach Shimla village by road. To reach by road, you can take a cab or a bus from Delhi/ Chandigarh to Shimla.
- The maximum altitude of this trek is 15250 ft.

- The difficulty level for this trek is Moderate to Difficult. The highest altitude is 15250 ft. The total distance is 41 kms. If you are someone who does not work out regularly, it is advisable to start working out at least a month before the trek to avoid any discomfort. If you are able to Jog 5 kms in 30 minutes, your stamina is good to go. You can prepare yourself by running and doing cardio exercises.
- All Veg & Jain meals from Dinner on day 1st to Lunch on day 7th.
- This is a Moderate to difficult Morning jogs and running 15 days before the trip will be helpful during the trek.
- To gain stamina, you can try Cardio and running along with stretching every day to strengthen your muscles and work on your flexibility.
- The total trek distance is 41 kms and the time it will take you to complete the same is 6-7 hours a day.
- In case you are sick and not able to complete the trek, you will be sent down to the base camp depending on the circumstances. Kindly note that a refund or reschedule for the same is not applicable. Any extra expenses incurred during this transfer will be borne by the traveler.

We’ll travel to Bawta via Rohru, a picturesque village nestled on the banks of the Pabar River, approximately 110 km from Shimla. As you leave Rohru, the road forks into two paths: the Janglik route, leading to the Buran Ghati Trek base camp, and the other leading to Bawta, the base camp for the old Rupin Pass route. Our journey takes us through the striking Chainsheel Valley, offering a tantalising glimpse of the fun and excitement that awaits on the Rupin Pass trek. An early start is rewarded with a breathtaking sunrise, painting the landscape in vibrant hues – a perfect way to begin your second day on the Rupin Pass trek. Today’s challenge is a 5-km ascent to Jakha, the highest and last village on the route. The 4-hour trek will test your endurance, but fear not! You can enjoy the ever-popular Maggi and tea along the way, with a hot and delicious lunch awaiting you at the campsite. The trail to Jakha winds through dense forests, offering glimpses of astonishing scenery. The zig-zag paths and wooden bridges add an element of adventure, while interactions with the villagers will provide a unique cultural experience. After reaching Jakha, you’ll embark on a moderate climb to Jiskun before descending to the familiar wooden bridge and zig-zag trail. Your overnight stay will be in tents or homestays, depending on availability. As darkness falls, embrace the quiet this remote location offers and experience the rejuvenating power of a starry night sky.
Awaken to a stunning sunrise over Jakha, bathing the landscape in a soft, golden light. Today’s adventure begins with all of us carrying a backpack as we set off towards Dhanderas Thatch. The initial ascent takes us through a captivating forest, eventually leading us to a dramatic clearing amidst the mountains. Snowy bridges will guide you over the Rupin River, followed by a narrow track leading to a picturesque wooden bridge—a perfect spot to capture the breathtaking scenery. The panoramic vistas throughout the hike offer a sense of peace and spiritual rejuvenation. After crossing a stream and navigating rocky terrain, we’ll find ourselves immersed in an enchanting Rhododendron forest, paving the way towards Saurwas Thatch. Take a moment to soak in the tranquillity and perhaps even participate in some fun, optional activities offered here. The spellbinding view of the U-shaped valley, adorned with lush greenery and the cascading Rupin Waterfall, is a sight that will leave you feeling revitalised. As we continue our journey, the Bhoj trees, revered as ‘Sacred Silver Cane Trees’, will guide us along the edge of the U-shaped valley. Next, the vibrant yellow meadows and a snowy bridge will lead us to the heart of Dhanderas Thatch. This 11-km trek, taking roughly 8 hours, will leave you feeling content. Finally, we set up camp for the night, surrounded by the sweet fragrance of the Dhanderas Thatch flora, ready for a good night’s rest.

Get ready for the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek! Today’s objective is the mighty Rupin Pass, located at a staggering 4,650 metres above sea level. This 10-hour ascent and descent will test your limits but leave you with unforgettable memories. Fuel up with a hearty breakfast before embarking on the trek at around 4:30 am. Ensure you have all the necessary water bottles and equipment for this demanding day. Our first stop is Rati Pheri, a steep climb that allows you to adjust to the changing altitude and weather. Snow-covered fields will offer a sneak peek of the Rupin Pass, revealing a landscape beyond your imagination. Navigate carefully over rocky terrain and loose stones, following your guide closely. For safety reasons, it’s best to tackle the steeper sections individually. Reaching the summit, you’ll be greeted by a breathtaking vista. Colourful prayer flags flutter in the wind, framing the majestic Dhauladhar Range. Take a moment to soak in the serene beauty and capture the panoramic view in your memory. After revelling in the accomplishment, we begin our descent. Lush pastures will guide us towards Ronti Gad, a captivating location adorned with snow-capped mountains and vibrant meadows. This marks the end of the longest day of the trek. Celebrate your achievement with a delicious dinner and rest at the campsite.
The Rupin Pass trek concludes today with a 12-km descent from Ronti Gad to the charming town of Sangla. Our experienced guides will ensure a safe and enjoyable journey, taking you through paths that are easier to cross than other routes on the way down. After conquering the 1500-foot descent, you’ll emerge from the narrow gorge and be rewarded with the majestic sight of Mount Kinner Kailash. The trail then weaves through a picturesque pine forest before reaching a village adorned with traditional wooden houses and idyllic apple orchards. A final 30-minute sharp descent followed by a short climb brings you to Sangla. Here, you can savour the beauty of this captivating town and bid farewell to the breathtaking Himalayas.
